Frequently Asked Questions about the NSW Owner Builder Course
Q. Am I able to do the course online?
A. Yes.
Q. Do I have to do the course again if I decide to begin a new Owner Builder project ?
A. No, to do the course again if I decide to begin a new Owner Builder project, as the Statement of Attainment at present lasts for life. But you can only undertake one (1) Owner Builder project every five (5) years. You just need to apply for a new permit to the Office of Fair Trading for each project.
Q. For how long does the OH&S Induction 'White Card' last ?
A. Indefinitely, unless the law changes. But in NSW, you need to take your actual plastic White Card in with you to the Fair Trading Centre when applying for your Permit.
Q. How many hours does the online course take to complete ?
A. Approximately 10 hours, but less if you have some familiarity or experience with the building industry, building, or renovation.
